Comfort in the familiar and curiosity beyond. Evidence-based care for mental health, sexual wellbeing, and relationships.
My name is Rosie, and I’m a psychologist and sexologist who takes a warm, humanistic, and strengths-based approach to therapy.
I started Familiar Psychology to create a space where people can feel seen, supported, and free to explore their lives, relationships, and sexuality without judgement.
Familiar Psychology is an Australia-wide telehealth practice - no matter where you are, support is available.
Sexual functioning (e.g., sexual pain, erectile difficulties, low or mismatched sexual desire)
Compulsive sexual behaviour (sometimes described as “porn/sex addiction”)
Sexual/erotic interests and kinks
Relationship concerns (communication, conflict, intimacy, trust)
Non-monogamy and relationship structure exploration
Sexual self-concept, shame, and body image
Anxiety, mood concerns, and life transitions
The fees for therapy are as follows:
Individual therapy: $255 for a 50-minute session
Couples therapy:
Initial (80 minute) session: $335
Ongoing (50 minute) sessions: $275
Sessions from 5pm onwards incur an additional $15 after hours fee.
With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan, eligible clients can receive a Medicare rebate of $98.95 per session.
In general, sessions go for 50 minutes. For couples/relationship therapy, the first session is a bit longer (80 minutes) to ensure I have enough time to hear and understand everyone's perspectives.
You don't need a referral to see a psychologist - however if you get a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP, you can get 10 subsidised psychology sessions per year thanks to Medicare.
At present, clients with an MHTP are eligible for a rebate of $98.95 per session.
If you are eligible, Medicare will transfer the rebate ($98.95) into your account after your session fee has been processed - just make sure that Medicare has your correct bank details.
You may be able to claim a rebate through your private health insurer if your policy includes cover for psychology services. Because cover varies between providers, I recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm your eligibility and rebate amount.
Please note that, in most cases, you can claim either a Medicare rebate or a private health rebate for the same session, but not both.
I’m not able to accept NDIS or DVA funding directly. However, I can provide an invoice that you can submit for reimbursement through your scheme.
Please do your best to cancel appointments in advance.
More than 2 business days' notice (48hrs); no fee
24-48 hours' notice; 50% of the session fee
Less than 24 hours notice; full session fee
If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time. Arrivals more than 20 minutes late are considered non-attendance and the full session fee will apply. Any outstanding fees must be paid before attending future sessions.
At present I only offer sessions via Telehealth.
If you are an existing client, you can book online directly via the client portal.
If you are new to Familiar Psychology, please complete the enquiry form and I will endeavour to follow up with you within 3 business days.
Depending on your enquiry, I may not be the right clinician for the support you’re seeking. If that’s the case, I will do my best to provide appropriate referral options.
Absolutely – you have a right to know what you’re agreeing to in therapy. That includes understanding session fees, cancellation policies, and anything else that might affect your experience. I want you to feel fully informed and comfortable before you begin. Please read my fees and policies to decide if Familiar Psychology is right for you, and you are welcome to contact me if you have any questions.
